About this activity

A private taxi to Chinchero, Maras, and Moray takes between 5 and 6 hours and includes a vehicle with driver for a fixed rate based on group size, not per person. You decide how much time to spend at each stop.

Unlike a bus tour with a fixed schedule and a large group, here the vehicle is yours for the day: stop wherever you like, spend more time at Moray if you enjoy the terraces, or move quickly if you’d rather arrive early at the market.

With over a decade operating in Cusco and a 5.0/5.0 TripAdvisor rating (36 reviews), we coordinate your pickup and route with no last-minute surprises.

Itinerary

01
Start

Chinchero

Chinchero is an Andean village at 3,762 m above sea level, considered by Inca tradition to be the birthplace of the rainbow. Its colonial church, built on the foundations of an Inca palace, preserves 17th-century floral murals. In the square and textile market, women from local communities weave by hand using ancestral techniques and natural dyes, often giving live demonstrations of the full process, from spinning to dyeing.

02
Stop 01

Maras Salt Pans

The Maras salt pans hold over 3,000 terraced salt pools on a hillside, fed by an underground saline spring since pre-Inca times. Local families still work the salt using traditional methods, evaporating the water in each pool until it forms the white layers seen from the viewpoint. The color contrast against the valley is one of the most sought-after photo spots in the Sacred Valley.

03
Stop 02

Moray

Moray is made up of concentric circular terraces descending like an amphitheater toward the center. It's believed the Incas used them as an agricultural laboratory: the temperature difference between the top and bottom terrace can exceed 15°C, which would have allowed experimenting with crops from different ecological zones in a single place.

04
End

Cusco (or Ollantaytambo upon request)

Once the tour is over, we return to the agreed point in Cusco by private vehicle. If your next step is catching the train to Machu Picchu, we can continue straight to Ollantaytambo instead of heading back to the city — just let us know when booking so we can adjust the route.
